The #9 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team traveled to Champaign Illinois for the second round of the Parkland College Classic and won a decisive victory over Moraine Valley College, 85-49.
Moraine Valley started the game on a quick 6-0 run. However, the Loggers scored seven straight points to take a lead that they would never relinquish. The Loggers held a 18-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Loggers hit four three point baskets in the second period against the Moraine Valley zone and held a 36-18 half time lead.Â
The second half saw the Loggers transition game take flight as Lincoln Land outscored the Cyclones 29-13 in the period. The final period Lincoln Land continued to play steady defense and score easy baskets in route to the final margin of victory at 85-49.
All ten Loggers dressed for tonight's game saw action and found their way into the scoring column. Alexis Wade lead the Loggers with 15 points. Taylor Blehm chipped in 13. Sam Lindhorst and Whitney Rumbold both netted 11 points respectively. Rumbold lead the Loggers with 11 rebounds. Lindhorst pulled down eight, while Blehm grabbed seven. Lindhorst had six steals while Chastain, Thomas, and Wade all had three. Lillie Woodworth hit three three point field goals in the contest.
Lincoln Land improves to 2-0 on the young season and will travel to Carl Sandburg College Tuesday evening for a 5:30 tip.
