Loggers Start off the Year Strong

The #9 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team took an opening day victory over John A Logan 71-60. The Loggers extended a 32-30 halftime lead to move to 1-0 on the new season.
Sophomore Sam Lindhorst was the catalyst for the Loggers. The 5'10 guard scored 13 first half points while Sophomore Alexis Wade hit 9. Seven Loggers scored for Lincoln Land in the half.

Coming out of halftime, Lincoln Land took control of the game on both ends of the floor. The Loggers forced the Vols into 10 turnovers which led to several transition baskets. The stingy defense and an aggressive offense gave Lincoln Land a comfortable 21 point advantage early in the fourth quarter. However, John A Logan didn't quit playing as they made a late run to cut into Lincoln Land's lead. Sophomores, Megan Harrell and Durbin Thomas, hit some late free throws to seal the Logger's 71-60 win.

Sam Lindhorst paced Lincoln Land with a team high 25 points and 9 rebounds. Sam also added 5 steals. Megan Harrell poured in 17 points and pulled down 5 rebounds. Alexis Wade finished with 13 points with 4 rebounds. Rounding out the Logger scoring was Whitney Rumbold 7, Durbin Thomas 6, Lillie Woodworth 2 and Hunter Mowrey 2.
