In a battle of two 5-0 teams, the Lincoln Land women's team score a decisive 90-48 victory over The College of Lake County in the Loggers first home game of the year. "Five straight on the road definitely starts to take its toll" stated Logger coach Chad Jones. The firs five minutes of the game the Lancers and the Loggers traded baskets. Eventually Lincoln Land was able to get a string of stops defensively and lead by a score of 19-9 at the end of the first period. The second quarter was a fairly evenly matched period where the Loggers only outscored the Lancers by five in the period to take a 15 point halftime lead. Durbin Thomas hit four baskets from behind the arc in the first half.
The second half is where the fast paced offense of Lincoln Land started to take its toll on Lake County. Lincoln Land scored 26 points in the period while holding Lake County to only six points. In the final period Durbin Thomas remained hot from behind the arc missing only one shot in the period. Thomas finished the night going 8 of 9 form deep. Lincoln Land held their largest lead with five minutes to go in the game at 43 points. The final score saw Lincoln Land win 90-48 for their sixth consecutive win. The Loggers are currently ranked #7 in the national rankings.
The Loggers were lead by the career night of Durbin Thomas with 24 points. "It was fun to watch Durbin get hot" stated Jones. Megan Harrell chipped in 12 while Sam Lindhorst and Lillie Woodworth each scored 10. Whitney Rumbold had another good night rebounding and lead the team with 12 rebounds. Harrell added 10. Sam Lindhorst had eight assists and six steals for the Loggers. Lincoln Land improves to 6-0 while Lake County falls to 5-1. Both teams will play in the second day of the Logger Classic tomorrow. Lincoln Land plays the 12pm game against Lincoln Trail College, while Lake County will play Danville at 2pm.
