In a Wednesday evening men's basketball contest Lincoln Land fell to the Archers of St. Louis 60-42.
Prior to the top the Loggers received an administrative technical and officials began the game trailing 1-0 and it never got better. Lincoln Land was forced to use an early timeout when they found themselves down 6-0 and struggling offensively early in the contest. A quick spark came following the TO and LLCC got back within 1 at 6-5. The Archers rattled off a 15-2 run and got up by double digits. The closest the Loggers got the rest of the way was 9. Cutting it under double digits lasted one possession and Lincoln Land never got closer. Although struggling to cut into the lead, LLCC never let St. Louis pull away and remained in a winnable game cutting the Archer advantage back to 12 with about 10:00 remaining. St. Louis made enough plays and the Loggers never found their touch shooting and St. Louis was able to never feel fully threatened. The Archers biggest lead came in the closing moments of the 60-42 victory.
The offensive side of the court was not one to the Loggers who shot 23% from the field and ended with more turnovers (16) than field goals (12). Neither team was great offensively as the combined shooting percentage in the night was 31% and the game featured 27 total turnovers.
Camden Nelson was the best offensive threat on the floor last night putting in a Loggers and game high 16, hitting 4 threes and going 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Nelson is the fourth Loggers to lead the team in scoring in the first four games of the season. Unfortunately, besides Nelson, the next Logger scorers ended with 5 total points, evidence of the offensive struggles on the night.
Lincoln Land fell to 0-4 on the season with the loss. Home will hopefully provide support for the Loggers as they come to Springfield for their first home contest of the season Monday evening in a rematch against Lake Land.
