Men's Basketball Fall By Three Against Black Hawk College

Black Hawk College - 70 Lincoln Land - 67 The Lincoln Land Logger men's basketball team drop a close contest to Black Hawk College Braves, 70-67.  Neither team made much of an impression offensively in the first half. Both teams highest lead was 4 points in that first 20:00. Both team combined to shoot only 28% converting only 15 field goals and committed a combined 15 turnovers. The ugly half concluded with Black Hawk up 1 at 23-22.  Offense did pick up in the second half as both teams scored at double the rate they did in the first. However, much of the scoring also came from the free throw line when both teams were in the double bonus less than halfway through the second frame. The two teams combined to shoot 45 free throws in the second half.  Although Black Hawk led majority of the time after halftime they were unable to pull away from the Loggers completely. The Braves would get out to 6-8 points, but Lincoln Land was able to keep touch. The game came down to the final 3:00 of the contest. Black Hawk started to begin to pull away by coupling stops and scores. With just 1:37 left the Braves knocked in a free throw to go up by a game high 11 points. The Loggers came storming back getting steals and scores to put together an 8-0 run and get back within 3 with just :43 left. Lincoln Land held defensively and got the ball with just :11 on the clock. After getting past half court and calling a timeout, the Loggers final shot attempt came up short to eventually come up 3 points short.  Camren Kincaid was the evening's leading scorer with 20 points. Kincaid also just missed a double-double with 9 rebounds, a team high, and added a game high 5 assists. The other two Loggers in double digits came off the bench. Axel Laby ended with 15 and Jermale Young got to 10 points.  Lincoln Land does not have long to recoup as they stay at home to take on Illinois Wesleyan's JV Monday evening.
