The Lincoln Land women's basketball team traveled south to take on Kaskaskia College and suffered a last second 66-65 defeat.
Lincoln Land lead by three points at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Loggers get out scored 23-11 in the period. The halftime score was 38-29 in favor of Kaskaskia.
The second half saw both Ellyn Peterson and Averie Schmidt go down with injuries. As a result, the Loggers had to dramatically change the way they played both offensively and defensively. The changes in tempo and defense gave Kaskaskia troubles as the Loggers out scored Kaskaskia 18-13. The fourth quarter saw the Loggers eventually take the lead 61-60, but Kaskaskia quickly answered to take the lead back. Addison Scarlette had a game winning shot that sat on the rim before falling out and the Loggers lost their third game of the season.
The Loggers were lead by Marley Smith 20 points. Addison Scarlette chipped in 15 and Kirsten Taylor contributed 14 points for the Loggers.
Lincoln Land travels to Illinois College Monday night in the final game before MWAC play begins.
