Women's Basketball Fall to Parkland in MWAC Competition

The Lincoln Land women's basketball team suffered a 67-51 loss to Parkland College Saturday afternoon. The inside game of Parkland ended up being too much for the Lincoln Land defense as they were outscored 24-12 in the paint. It was a tough day for the Loggers but they fought back to make things interesting in the second half.

A sluggish first quarter for Lincoln Land allowed Parkland to jump to a 15-7 lead. The Loggers had a tough time scoring until late in the period.  The second period turned out to be the Logger's best offensive and defensive performance. Lincoln Land's offense began to click which lead to 19 points being scored.  The Loggers also held Parkland's offense to a game low 14 points. However, Parkland still held a 29-26 halftime lead.

Things got interesting in the third quarter. The Loggers came out on fire to take a 4 point lead with 7:00 left in the frame. Unfortunately, that lead didn't last long as Parkland stormed back to stifle the Logger run. After three periods, Lincoln Land trailed 50-40.

The fourth quarter was once again controlled by Parkland. The Cobras handled the Logger pressure and were able to score 17 points in the frame to the Logger's 11. Even with the 67-51 loss, Lincoln Land's bench outscored PC 19-4. The Loggers also held an 11-4 2nd chance points advantage.

Sophomore Addison Scarlette lead the Logger offense with 17 points and 2 assists. Freshmen Avrie Schmidt and Taylor Nowaski each finished with 7. Scarlette also had a team high 7 rebounds while Cassidy Kretschmer pulled down 4.

Lincoln Land drops to 13-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
