Loggers Dominate at Home Against SIU Club Team

The Lincoln Land women's basketball team played host to the SIUE Club team on Wednesday and won 70-47.

SIUE replaced previously scheduled St. Louis Community College on the agenda for the Loggers.  St. Louis was dealing with flu and injuries and was unable to play.
"I appreciate SIUE Club for coming on short notice and filling a hole on our schedule" stated Logger coach Chad Jones.
Lincoln Land opened the game scoring quickly enroute to a 21 point first quarter while holding SIUE to only 13.  In the second period, the Loggers were able to extend their lead, scoring several easy baskets in transition and outscored the Cougars 18-7 in the period.

The second half saw the Cougars outscore the Loggers 18-13.  SIUE went to a zone defense and spread the floor offensively, causing both the offense and defense of the Loggers to struggle.  The final period saw the Loggers regain control and comfortably hold on to finish the game by a final score of 70-47.

Lincoln Land was lead in scoring by Elynn Peterson and Marley Smith with 13 points apiece.  All but two Loggers scored in the contest. Cassidy Kretschmer lead the Loggers in rebounding with six.  Lincoln Land shot 50% from the 3pt line in the game with Peterson going 3 for 3 from long range.

The Loggers will be off until December 17th when they play host to Waubonsee Community College.  The Loggers improve to 8-2 on the season.
