The #8 ranked Logger Women's Basketball team suffered their second loss of the season to Black Hawk College, 87-79.
The Logger's trailed the entire game but fought back to take a one point lead midway through the fourth quarter. That would be the final time Lincoln Land would lead before being forced to foul with time running out.
Lincoln Land struggled early in the contest and found themselves down 27-15 after the first period. Black Hawk was able to knock down five 3 point baskets in the frame.
Freshman Avrie Schmidt lead the Logger offense with 8 points during the second period. However, Black Hawk was still able to extend the lead to 46-30 at the half.
An inspired Logger team came out of halftime to have their best offensive output. Sophomore Addison Scarlette and Madison Lovett both hit a 3 point basket while Marley Smith dominated in the paint with 6 points. The Lincoln Land scoring surge saw the Loggers outscore Black Hawk 26-18 to close the gap to 56-64.
Lincoln Land would continue to chip away in the final quarter and eventually took a one point lead with 4:30 left in the game. On the next Black Hawk possession, they hit a 3 point basket and would not trail again. The Lincoln Land trio of Scarlette, Smith and Lovett were responsible for 21 of the 23 points that the Loggers would score in the quarter.
Marley Smith finished the game with a double double, including 22 points and 10 rebounds. Addison Scarlette finished with 20 points while Avrie Schmidt and Madison Lovett had 14 and 10 respectively.
Lincoln Land falls to 6-2 on the season.
The Loggers are back in action Monday December 5th as the travel to St. Louis to face the Archers of St. Louis Community College.
