Men's Basketball drops opener 71-42 to Moraine Valley

The Lincoln Land men's basketball team began their 2021-2022 season with a rough start, falling 71-42 to Moraine Valley Community College. Moraine was able to lead the entire game after racing out to a 6-0 lead and forcing an early Logger timeout. Lincoln Land came out of the timeout and got a bucket to settle down and then were able to remain in touch with Moraine Valley. Unfortunately, the Logger scoring became stagnant near the end of the half and Moraine Valley was able to get a couple buckets to go in to the half up 33-24. Unfortunately, the struggles from the first half only became worse for LLCC in the second half. Shooting went dry, the turnovers doubled, scoring was slow and inconsistent and Moraine jumped out on a 17-4 run before the Loggers got their first field goal of the half. Lincoln Land never recovered and trailed by 20+ points for the remainder of the contest. Shooting woes plagued the Loggers who went 15-67 (22%) and 0-18 from three. LLCC also committed 15 turnovers that led to 17 points off turnovers for Moraine Valley. Davarrion Reynolds led the Logger effort with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Reynolds was only Logger in double digits. Lincoln Land starts the season 0-1. They remain home against Carl Sandburg Tuesday evening for their next contest.
