The #3 ranked Lincoln Land women's basketball team hit the road Wednesday evening and came away with a 59-28 victory over Danville Area C.C. The Loggers led from start to finish to improve their overall record to 25-2.
Teutopolis High School products, Sadie and Jolene Bueker, provided the offensive punch early and often during the first half. They combined for 16 first half points.
However, the key to Lincoln Land's success was their stellar defensive effort. The Loggers held Danville to a mere 10 first half points. Havilyn Dulin, Maclayne Taylor, Hannah Wallen and Madison Jernigan pressured the Jaguars into 12 early turnovers.
The Loggers continued to control the game defensively throughout the second half. They forced 31 total turnovers and out rebounded Danville 37-31.
Jolene Bueker finished with a game high 14 points. Katryel Clark and Havilyn Dulin each had 10. Maclayne Taylor poured in 9 while Sadie Bueker had 8.
Jolene Bueker pulled down 8 rebounds with Maclayne Taylor adding 7. Jolene Bueker dished out 4 assists and Havilyn Dulin finished with 5 steals.
The Loggers return to action Saturday, Feb. 22 at home against Illinois Central.
Lincoln Land improves to 25-2.
