#5 Lincoln Land WBB had five players score in double figures which led to an 82-71 victory over #15 Lake Land. The Loggers advance in the Region 24 Tournament to face #1 ranked ICC in the championship game Sunday, March 10. Game time is 2:00 at the Danville Area C.C. gymnasium.
Lincoln Land started out strong early in the first period by jumping out to an eight point lead. Lake Land fought back to cut the first quarter score to 24-22. Lincoln Land had their lowest scoring output during the second frame and was outscored 21-14 for a 43-38 deficit at the half. Sophomore Madison Jones led the Loggers in the first half with 9 points while Havilyn Dulin and Jolene Bueker each had 7. Lincoln Land was able to re- group out of the half and outscored the Lakers 20-13 to take a 58-56 lead entering he final frame. The fourth quarter saw the Loggers flex their muscle with smothering defense and efficient offense. Attacking offense by Madison Jones, Havilyn Dulin, Nicole Robinson, Hannah Wallen along with the inside presence of Katryel Clark allowed Lincoln Land to outscore Lake Land 24-15. Lincoln Land's final field goal of the game came at the 2:12 mark. Lake Land was forced to press and foul the final two minutes of the game but the Loggers were able to convert enough free throws to preserve the 83-71 win.
Coach Jones was pleased with the performance of the team. "We were able to avenge an earlier loss to Lake Land. I'm really happy for the team and looking forward to another tough game with ICC tomorrow."
Jolene Bueker finished with a double- double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Katryel Clark added 10 boards and 8 points. Leading the Loggers in scoring were Nicole Robinson and Havilyn Dulin with 16 each. Madison Jones had 13 points with Hannah Wallen chipping in 11. Robinson and Dulin dished our 7 and 4 assists apiece.
