The Lincoln Land women's basketball team faced off against NJCAA Division 1 Rend Lake College on Thursday night at Cass gym and came away with a 92-72 victory. The game was a fast paced high scoring game from the get go with teams trading leads throughout the first quarter. Lincoln Land managed to hit a shot just before the buzzer to take a 20-19 lead. The second saw Lincoln Land step up its defense for most of the period until the Warriors hit back to back three point field goals to end the quarter with Lincoln Land up 40-32.
Lincoln Land used its depth in the second half to increase the tempo of the game on their way to scoring 52 points in the half. The story of the game was the individual defense the Loggers displayed in holding the nations #7 scorer, Madison Buford, to just 11 points on 3 made field goals. "What a great team effort tonight." Stated Logger coach Chad Jones. "We did some great things on both sides of the ball and played very hard tonight." Lincoln Land was lead in scoring by Sadie Bueker with 21 points. Havilyn Dulin contributed 15, Hannah Wallen 14, and Maclayne Taylor had 13 points respectively. Katryel Clark had another double digit rebound game with 10 boards despite getting into early foul trouble. Hannah Wallen had 8 assists and Havilyn Dulin dished out 7. Wallen also lead the team with five steal. Lincoln Land finishes the semester with a 13-1 record and a #4 national ranking. The Loggers are off until returning to the court January 2nd.
