LLCC defeated Southwestern Illinois in Belleville, this evening, winning in straight sets though it wasn't easy.  LLCC started off the first set with two ball-handling errors and 3 hitting errors, falling into a quick 5-0 hole.  LLCC was trailing 18-11 when they kame to life behind kills from freshman Annika Black, eventually tying it on an Ashley Melton kill at 21.  After exchanging sideouts, the Loggers finally won the set on a quick kill by Melton 25-23.

In the second set, the Loggers put up a wall immediately, running to a 7-0 lead behind tough serves from Kate Volk and blocks from Annika Black.  LLCC expanded the lead to 10 behind a kill by Kennedy Bauer at 23-13, winning 25-15 on a kill by Mary Hill.
The deciding set saw an early run of LLCC errors again along with two Blue Streak aces.  Southwestern Illinois held that margin until 18-11 and the Loggers started to claw back behind kills from Bauer and Black.  At 21-22, SWIC made two critical hitting errors which finally gave Lincoln Land its first lead of the set.  At 24-24, LLCC missed a serve, but sided out after a key dig by freshman Ashley Webb while a second later dig by Webb put LLCC up 27-26 before a SWIC hitting error ended the contest.
