Loggers Sweep on the First Day of the Parkland Region Crossover Tournament

    The Loggers defeated #12 Sauk Valley Community College 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 27-25. Morgan Cowdrey led the team in kills with 15 and hit a .256. Gracie Brockett also earned double digit kills with 11 hitting an impressive .304, Ella Kinkelaar contributed 7 for the Loggers, Harper Darr had 6, and Savannah Kaeb with 5 kills. Ella Kinkelaar put up 36 assists for the Loggers, inching closer to earning her 1,000 career assists. Izzy Lynch earned 5 assists for the Loggers as well. Ella Kinkelaar earned 5 service aces, ,while Kaylee Abens earned 4. 

    The Loggers were a force at the net earning 10 solo blocks collectively. Gracie Brockett earned 4 solo blocks, Savannah Kaeb earned 3, and Harper Darr, Ella Kinkelaar, and Laynee Whitsitt earned 1 each. Izzy Lynch led the Loggers back row defense in digs with 23, Kaylee Abens picked up 15, Ella Kinkelaar had 13 digs (earning yet another double-double), Harper Darr had 11, and Morgan Cowdrey had 10 total digs. 

    The Loggers went on to earn their 20th win of the season with a sweep of Carl Sandburg College 25-23, 25-23, 25-18. Gracie Brockett and Ella Kinkelaar led in kills with 5 each, Morgan Cowdrey, Savannah Kaeb, and Laynee Whistitt each earned 4, Harper Darr had 3 kills for the Loggers, and libero Izzy Lynch earned 2 kills. Kinkelaar earned 20 assists, while Kaylee Abens had 2. The Loggers lit up on the service line and had 18 aces as a team in 3 sets. Kaylee Abens put the pressure on the Chargers serve receive, earning 5 aces, Izzy Lynch earned 4, Ella Kinkelaar and Harper Darr each contributed 3 aces, Gracie Brockett had 2, and Morgan Cowdrey with 1. 

    Izzy Lynch led the Loggers in digs once again with 16. Both Harper Darr and Morgan Cowdrey picked up 8 digs a piece. Kaylee Abens had 7 digs and Ella Kinkelaar had 5. Gracie Brockett was a force at the net, earning 5 solo blocks, while Savannah Kaeb had 2 solo blocks, and Laynee Whitsitt with 1. 

    The Loggers play again tomorrow at Parkland College. Their first match is at 11:00 a.m. against McHenry County College, and their second match will be at 3:00 p.m. against Rock Valley College.
