Loggers Split Series with Jaguars
Austin Chapman (4-4) was the losing pitcher in game one of a Saturday doubleheader between Lincoln Land and Danville. The righty pitched 5 innings and gave up 4 earned runs on 4 hits in a 5-1 loss. The offense didn't show up in game one for the Loggers, as the only run came from a bomb off the bat of Talon File in the 4th inning.
The Loggers were able to steal a walk-off win in game two, scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take the final game of the regular season 3-2. Cade Sestak got the win in relief of Ethan Klay. Sestak pitch just 1 inning, striking out 2 Jaguars and get a weak line out to set down Danville in order. Clay Bachman started the 7th inning rally with a single up the middle and scored on a throwing error by Danville. Cole Greer was able to knock in the tying run on an RBI single, and CJ Fleming stole home plate for the win after a pitch of an intentional walk went bad for Danville.
The Loggers end their regular season 28-26 (16-16 MWAC). They begin the Region 24 Tournament
next Thursday in Bloomington at the Corn Crib. They are still awaiting seeding to determine their first round opponent.
