The Loggers took on the Lakers of Lake Land College Wednesday afternoon and lost 8-2. The lack of offense and poor defense once again left the Loggers in defeat. They committed 5 errors, leading to 4 unearned runs to cross the plate for the Lakers. Freshman Jack O'Connor (1-1) took the loss for Lincoln Land. He went 4 innings, allowing just 2 hits and 2 unearned runs. A handful of pitchers relieved O'Connor, and gave up 6 more runs over the next 5 innings.
Just 3 Loggers were able to tally hits on the day. Andy Lopez contributed 2 hits, including a 2B in the bottom of the 9th inning that would lead to the Logger's lone RBI of the day on a ground out by Kole Renken, scoring Lopez.
The Loggers drop to 7-12 (0-4 MWAC) on the year. They start their second conference series this weekend against Heartland. Games 1 and 2 will be played in Springfield on Friday at Claude Kracik Field, starting at 3 p.m. Games 3 and 4 will be played at Heartland on Sunday.
