The Lincoln Land Lady Loggers lost their game to #4 ranked St. Louis Tuesday night 64-84. The Loggers had the game tied at 18 midway through the first quarter but St. Louis went on a 15-0 run to take control of the game. The second quarter was controlled by St. Louis, who outscored the Loggers 30-10, for a 62-28 halftime lead. However, the Loggers were able to win the third quarter 17-14 and doubled up the Archers 18-9 in the fourth for the final score of 64-84.
Lincoln Land finished the game shooting 26-63 (41%) from the field and shot 5/15 (33%) from the three point line. The Loggers went 6/10 (60%) from the free throw line.
Coach Albert was disappointed in the Loggers first half defense. "Obviously, St. Louis is a very dominant team. We just can't give up that many points in the first half and expect a positive outcome. The girls could have given up during the second half but they didn't. We regrouped at the half and were able to win both the third and fourth quarter. Unfortunately, we dug a hole that we couldn't come back from. This group has the ability to play with anyone but against the #4 team in the country, you can't get that far behind. Hannah Krukewitt brought a lot of energy the second half. I believe some of the girls saw that and picked up their effort as well. We simply have to play fundamental defense and make sure we force teams to work hard to score on us."
Hannah Krukewitt led Lincoln Land with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Hannah Cameron had 10 points while Brooke Ferree knocked down 9. Nicole Robinson, Ella Nelson and Madison Jones each finished with 8. Robinson dished out 3 assists.
