Women's basketball improves to 7-0

The Lincoln Land women's basketball team played at home for just the second time this year and defeated Kaskaskia College 72-57 Saturday afternoon at Cass Gym.  Lincoln Land started the game hot and jumped out to a 24-9 first quarter lead.  Madison Jones had 10 of her game high 25 points in the quarter.  Things slowed down for the Loggers in the second quarter.  A myriad of turnovers contributed to 17 Kaskaskia points.  The Loggers took a 44-26 lead into half time.

Things cooled for the Loggers in the second half.  Kaskaskia came out early and made back to back three point baskets and outscored the Loggers 13-11 in the quarter.  Hannah Wallen and Madison Jones were the only Loggers to score in the quarter.  Kaskaskia capitalized on Logger turnovers in the fourth quarter and outscored the Loggers 18-17.  The Loggers did go 9 of 10 from the free throw line in the quarter.

The Loggers were lead in scoring by Madison Jones with 25 points.  Havilyn Dulin scored 11 and Katryel Clark chipped in 8 points to go along with her team high 10 rebounds. Freshman Hannah Wallen also pulled down 6 rebounds and Havilyn Dulin lead with four assists and four steals.  "We need to be much more aggressive on the defensive side of the ball.  We did enough to win tonight and that is always important.  Tomorrows practice is important to work on the little things." Stated Logger coach Chad Jones

he Loggers are currently riding a seven game win streak and improve to 7-0 on the season.  The next game is at
Lincoln Land on Monday night at 5:30 against MacMurray College.
