Lincoln Land Women's Basketball team won their sixth consecutive game by defeating D1 Southwestern Illinois College 63-49. The first quarter was a defensive battle. Both teams shot poorly but the Loggers held a 10-5 lead. Lincoln Land found their offensive rhythm in the second frame. Freshman guard,Hannah Wallen, led the scoring with 13 of the Logger's 27 points to take a 37-16 halftime lead. After the break, Lincoln Land continued to extend the lead and outscored the Blue Storm 17-9. Madison Jones scored 9 of her 17 points to extend the Logger's lead to 54-25 going into the final period. The fourth quarter saw SWIC make a run at the Loggers but Lincoln Land finished victorious with a final score of 63-49.
" Winning on the road is never easy, " stated Coach Chad Jones afterwards. "It will be nice to get a home game next Saturday after being on the road 5 out of the last six contests."
Lincoln Land was led in scoring by Hannah Wallen and Madison Jones with 17 apiece. Katryel Clarke finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Wallen also collected 4 steals during the game.
Lincoln Land improves to 6-0 and will play at home next Saturday against D1 Kaskaskia C.C.
