#15 LLCC loses to Kansas City Kansas CC 14-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-25
LLCC opened Saturday against the Blue Devils of Kansas City, Kansas CC, losing in four sets. Trouble came before the match started as LLCC lost two players for a time in a head-on on-court collision, forcing another round of creative substitutions. LLCC couldn't right te ship and lost 25-14.  LLCC took the second set behind the hitting of Kiley Brunstein and the blocks of Erika Miller and Olivia Dour. The third set saw the Loggers take a 10-3 lead before KCKCC exploited miscommunication in the Logger defense to tie the game at 14 with an 8-point run, capping it with two setter attacks to win the set 25-23.  In the deciding set, LLCC hung tough behind Dour's hitting and defense, but a run of six unforced errors took the score from 11-10 Blue Devils to 17-10. LLCC couldn't come any closer, losing 25-15. "It was frustrating," Coach Dietz said afterwards. "We gave up on playing defense once we had the lead in the third set and once you find that cruise-control, it's hard to go back to playing with energy and intensity. We couldn't do it and let 10-12 balls drop untouched because of that. It's a pity as we got a good match hitting from Kiley and Erika."
