Women’s basketball drop first conference game

Storm had a season high 17

The Lincoln Land Lady Loggers faced conference opponent Lewis & Clark on Saturday afternoon.  The Loggers battled but fell 64-79.  LLCC played  well the first quarter but trailed 20-17.  The second quarter saw L & C outscore Lincoln Land 22-10 for a 44-27 halftime lead.  After the half, the Loggers made a run to cut the lead to 57-42.  Lincoln Land was able to cut the lead to 8 in the fourth quarter but were unable to overcome the final score of 64-79.

The Loggers shot 23/ 72 (32%) from the field and went 4/15 (27%) from the 3 pt. line.  The team finished 14/23 (61%) from the free throw line.

"We played very well for three quarters,"  commented Coach Albert afterwards.  "The second quarter really had a major effect on the outcome to today's game.  We struggled on both ends of the floor during the second period and dug a hole that was difficult to come back from.  Despite being down, the girls turned it around the second half and made a great run to get to within 8. Lindsey Storm came off the bench to spark our run.  She was certainly a bright spot today which was something we really needed.   I was very proud of the overall effort and the never say die attitude of the team as well.  I believe the girls are understanding how important playing fundamental basketball combined with great energy can turn games around."

Madison Jones led Lincoln Land with 22 points.  Lindsey Storm finished with a season high 17.  Hannah Krukewitt and Denzelle Moore both pulled down 7 rebounds.
