The Lincoln Land baseball season came to an end Sunday as the Loggers fell to the Heartland Community College Hawks 10-5 in the NJCAA Region 24 regional tournament.
Lincoln Land entered the day knowing they would need four straight wins to return to the NJCAA Division II World Series, but the Loggers just couldn't get clicking on all cylinders and were eliminated.
"We had a great season, and our guys should be proud of the success we had this year," coach Riggle said following the game about his 39-10 team. " Our goal is always to play our best ball at the end of the year, and unfortunately for us, we just didn't get it done this weekend. "
Lincoln Land was outhit by the Hawks 16-6, but got solo home runs from Aaron Steinhoff and Michael Ryan. Nick Maton was 2 for 4. Logger Matt Steinhoff suffered the loss. He pitched six solid innings, allowing four earned runs.
The Region 24 tournament will continues tomorrow at LLCC. Top seeded and undefeated Parkland will take on Danville Area at 1pm. Should Danville win, the two teams will play again to determine the Regional Champion.
