Lincoln Land (12-1) opened their conference season at home Saturday with a double header Sweep against the Cougars from Illinois central college.

The Loggers used two 3-run homeruns off the bats of Michael Ryan and Aaron Steinhoff to build a comfortable lead for starting pitcher Tristan Weaver. The southpaw went all seven innings in the 12-4 shortened game to earn his third win of the season.  Weaver allowed six hits, four runs, only two earned, and struck out seven.  Ryan and first baseman Noah Powless had two hits apiece for the Loggers and Jonathan Walder added an RBI double.

In game two, Lincoln Land used a seven run fifth inning to shorten the contest to five innings in an 10-0 victory. Devin Smith (4-0) threw a complete game shutout allowing only three hits and striking out six.  Logger left fielder CJ Fleming went 1 for 4 with three runs driven in and Noah Powless continued to swing a hot stick, collecting two more hits in his three at bats and also drove in two.

"It's was a great way to start the conference schedule, winning two at home," coach Riggle said after the games.  "Weaver and Smith were good and we got big hits in some key moments."

The Loggers will look to keep the momentum tomorrow as they travel to Peoria to finish the four game set against ICC.
