Loggers Sweep Cougars, Win 12-4 & 10-0

Lincoln Land (12-1) opened their conference season at home Saturday with a double header Sweep against the Cougars from Illinois central college.

The Loggers used two 3-run homeruns off the bats of Michael Ryan and Aaron Steinhoff to build a comfortable lead for starting pitcher Tristan Weaver. The southpaw went all seven innings in the 12-4 shortened game to earn his third win of the season. Â Weaver allowed six hits, four runs, only two earned, and struck out seven. Â Ryan and first baseman Noah Powless had two hits apiece for the Loggers and Jonathan Walder added an RBI double.

In game two, Lincoln Land used a seven run fifth inning to shorten the contest to five innings in an 10-0 victory. Devin Smith (4-0) threw a complete game shutout allowing only three hits and striking out six. Â Logger left fielder CJ Fleming went 1 for 4 with three runs driven in and Noah Powless continued to swing a hot stick, collecting two more hits in his three at bats and also drove in two.

"It's was a great way to start the conference schedule, winning two at home," coach Riggle said after the games. Â "Weaver and Smith were good and we got big hits in some key moments." Â

The Loggers will look to keep the momentum tomorrow as they travel to Peoria to finish the four game set against ICC. Â
