Women's basketball downs Carl Sandburg 60-52

The Lincoln Land women's basketball team defeated Carl Sandburg 60-52 on Friday night.  The Loggers got off to a good start and took a 17-8 first quarter lead.  However, Sandburg came back to tie the game at the half.  Both teams traded leads throughout the second half before Lincoln Land closed out the game mid-way through the final period.

The Logger defense forced 31 turnovers which led to 26 points.  Lincoln Land did struggle shooting the ball and finished a dismal 2/18 (11%) from behind the arc and went 21/70 (30%) from the field.  Lincoln Land, which is normally a good free throw shooting team, shot 16/35 (45.7%) from the line.

"This was one of those games where our shots just wouldn't fall," stated Coach Albert.  "We had great looks at the basket and had plenty of attempts from the free throw line.  Fortunately, we had our best offensive production of the night, during the fourth quarter, which was nice to see.  The girls finished strong and never gave up which is a great quality to have. We finally got Molly Smith and Hannah Cameron back from injuries tonight.  Even though they had limited minutes, they both did a great job."

Mollly Smith led Lincoln Land with 13 points.  Brooke Ferree, Madison Jones and Hannah Krukewitt each contributed 9 points.  Ferree pulled down 9 rebounds while Nicole Robinson dished out 5 assists and had 5 steals.

Lincoln Land improved to 4-3 on the season.
