The Lincoln Land Loggers played the visiting team role on their home turf on Saturday, as they took on the Snappers from Spoon River College in a double header. The Loggers completed the four game conference sweep, winning 16-4 and 14-1.
In game one, LLCC scored three runs in the first inning, followed by four more in the top of the second. After going idle for a couple of innings, the Logger offense erupted for six runs in the fifth and another three in the sixth. The Loggers totaled fourteen hits in the game, including doubles from Tyler Borski (2 for 4, 2 RBI), Jake Morsch (2 for 4, 3 RBI), and Sam Anderson (2 for 2, RBI). Logger shortstop Xavier Collier (3 for 4, 2 RBI) added a triple. First basemen Ben Hecht also went 2 for 5 with two runs batted in in the 16-4 victory.
Freshman Chris Robinson (5-3) picked up the game one win with four innings of work. He scattered five hits, one walk, and three strikeouts while surrendering one earned run.
Lincoln Land doubled their hit total on the day in game two, pounding out another fourteen hits on their way to a 14-1 five inning win. Every Logger starter collected at least one hit. Sam Anderson, Ben Hecht, Jake Morsch, Matt Sekardi, and Michael Ryan had two hits each. Anderson tripled, while Ryan and Sekardi doubled and drove in seven runs between the two of them. Second basemen Nate Welch also had an RBI double for the Loggers.
The snapper scored their only run of game two in the third inning when second maser Chance Oliver singled home Trent Staggs off Logger lefty Tyler Borski. Borski (3-1) would take the win, completing four innings, giving up three hits, two walks, and struck out three. Clay Shourd pitched a scoreless fifth inning to finish the game.
The Loggers are now 35-17 on the season, 20-8 in the MWAC.
Lincoln Land will take on first place Heartland Community College next weekend, scheduled for Friday at noon in Bloomington, and Saturday at 1:00 at LLCC.
