Loggers lose to Central Florida 11-10
The LLCC Baseball Loggers (4-5) lost another one run game on Tuesday against the Central Florida Patriots, their 4th one run loss of the season. The Loggers scored a run in the top of the first for an early lead when Jake Morsch drove in Tyler Ring with a sacrifice fly. The lead didn't last long, as the Patriots answered with 3 unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning, and added two more in the 2nd inning on a 2 run home run from Dalton Mauldin.
Lincoln Land tacked on a run in the top of the 3rd to make the score 5-2 when Matt Sekardi was plated from 3rd base on a bases loaded, no out double play. Central Florida answered with 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Connor Crile, 4-5 on the day, singled to right field with the bases loaded and 2 outs. The ball was missed played by right fielder Matt Sekardi, allowing all three runs to score.
With the score 8-2, Logger starting pitcher Chris Robinson settled in and recorded 3 straight scoreless innings. The Loggers managed to score 7 unanswered runs over the 5th, 6th and 7th innings, capped off by a two run triple from Conor White, giving Lincoln Land a 10-8 lead.
After a clean 8th inning by sophomore pitcher Zeke Rowe, Matt Tomazzoli (1-2) took the lead into the ninth. After getting Will Reddick to fly out to center filed for the first out of the inning, Luke Heyer belted a solo Homerun to put the Patriots within one. The next two batters, Crile and NJ Williamson, reached safely on an infield single and a hit by pitch. Ryan Knowles then hit a hard ground ball off the glove of Logger third baseman Peyton Minder that scored Crile. With the score tied, Patriot first baseman John Cassala hit a game winning rbi single to left center field to hand the Loggers their second walk off loss in as many days.
The Loggers will look to rebound from back to back losses tomorrow when they suit up against Pasco Hernando State College at 3:00.
