Loggers (5-8) split with Herkimer (1-1): W 4-0 and L 3-1
Â

It was all Loggers in game 1 as they defeated the Herkimer Generals 4-0 to end their 4 game losing streak. Sophomore pitcher Ben Hecht (2-0) threw a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit in his seven innings of work while striking out eight. "Ben was great today," coach Riggle said after the game, "he worked ahead and threw all of his pitches for strikes. It was a much needed performance from the Logger pitching staff, as they have been allowing almost 7 runs a game so far this season."
Â
The Loggers offense scored their first two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Tyler Borski was hit by a pitch with two outs. Borski then stole second base and scored on Tyler Ring's single to left field. Conor White (2 for 2) would walk next to set up Jake Morsch's (2 for 3) RBI double that scored Ring. Lincoln Land added an insurance run in both the 4th and 5th innings on a Tyler Borski rbi single and a sac fly off the bat of Michael Ryan.
Â
In game two the Loggers were held to just 2 hits and struck out 10 times as they lost 3-1. The Generals struck in the bottom of the first with two runs off starting pitcher Ryan Arnold. With one out, Herkimer hit back to back to back doubles to take a 2-0 lead. They added their only other run in the 3rd inning when Gage Lanning hit an rbi double down the right field line.Â
Â
Lincoln Land got their only run of the game in the top of the 4th when Xavier Collier hit a sacrifice fly out to deep center field that plated Jake Morsch.
