MBB Fall to Lincoln College 71-68

Lincoln College - 71
LLCC - 68

The Lincoln Land men's basketball team began their second half of conference play on the road against Lincoln College and fell 71-68.

Unlike all their previous conference games Lincoln Land went in to the half with the lead. Lincoln Land was able to race out to an early lead by as many as 6 in the first half. The Lynx of Lincoln College came out in the second half and put the Loggers down quickly. Lincoln Land fought back from down 8 points to briefly take a lead with 12:51 left, but relented it on the next possession and Lincoln never gave it back up. The Loggers trailed by as many as 11points and were able to keep fighting to cut it all the way back to 2, but nevever closer.  The final four minutes were played within a five point window, but LLCC could not get the stop and bucket they needed to get over the deficit.

Coach Chad Jones reflected on the loss after the game, "I don't think we played with the same emotions and determination we did in our first five conference games. Our effort was not good enough to win. We did not execute and made a lot of lazy mistakes. Hopefully this ends tonight."

The Loggers remained in the game by shooting 50% from behind the arc going 14 for 28. However, a consistent problem has been defensive rebounding and the Loggers gave up offensive rebounds in huge moments in the game which led to 12 secod chance points for Lincoln College, all in the second half.

Lincoln Land was paced by sophomore Eddie Longmeyer who had 17 points, 8 rebounds, and five assists. Freshman Alex Portwood went 4 for 5 from three on his way to 15 points. Sophomore Marshall Corbin went 3for 3 behind the line to chip in 13.

Lincoln Land will return home and take on Danville Area Community College, who beat the Loggers on an overtime buzzer beater earlier in the year. LLCC is now 16-10 and 4-2 in the conference and fall back into a tie with Parkland for first place.
