Lincoln Land 72- Lincoln 79 – OVERTIME
Lincoln Land hosted the Lynx of Lincoln College in a Mid-West athletic Conference contest at Cass Gym. The Loggers started the game strong jumping to a 12-3 lead. Lincoln would not go away and slowly cut the lead to five. Lincoln Land then extended the lead to 12 again with the hot shooting of freshman Eddie Longmeyer who had 16 first half points. Lincoln hit a well defended 3 point banked in shot at the half time buzzer to cut the LLCC lead to 9 points at the half.
In the second half, Lincoln played a 2-3 zone that caused Lincoln Land problems. Lincoln went on a 16-7 run to tie the game. The game was a back and forth affair that resulted six lead changes. Lincoln Land had a chance to win the game when an Eddie Longmeyer floater in the paint fell short and forced an overtime.
In the overtime, the Loggers again struggled with the zone and were outscored 12-5 for a final score of 79-72. In the game, Lincoln College was 30/44 from the freethrow line compared to the 14/20 for the Loggers.
Lincoln Land was lead by freshman Eddie Longmeyer's career best 31pts. "This was a tough game to swallow. I felt we played well enough and hard enough to win, things just didn't fall our way. I am proud of the effort of our team," commented Logger Coach Chad Jones.
