MBB Downs IVC 88-75

LLCC – 88
Illinois Valley Community College - 75

The Lincoln Land Loggers had to wait a week to get back on the court after a frustrating loss before Thanksgiving and they were able to forget about that loss and come away with a 88-75 victory over the Illinois Valley Community College Eagles.

The Loggers never trailed on the evening, however, the game remained pretty close throughout. Lincoln Land did build up a 12 point lead early in the game, but IVCC pulled back in to the game and cut it to a 45-40 deficit at half. In the second half the Eagles continued to chip away and came all the way back to tie the game with 12:00 remaining in the game. For the next 4 minutes the game was played within a 3 point window. IVCC scored to tie the game with 8:00 left. The Loggers slowly built their lead all the way up to 14. The Loggers closed on a 26-13 run in that time frame to close their victory out.

Lincoln Land held the edge on most statistical categories, by out-shooting and rebounding IVCC. The Loggers were led by sophomore Eddie Longmeyer who led all scorers with 28 points. Longmeyer also added a game high 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Freshmen Alex Portwood and Harold Robertson joined Longmeyer in double digits with 16 and 14 respectively. Sophomore Harold Fay led the Eagles with 18.

"We have been in this situation a few times this year and have come out on the losing end, tonight we took care of the ball down the stretch and got the stops we had to in the last four minutes to come away victorious. It's good to win one of these and now we know what we have to do down the stretch," head coach Chad Jones mentioned after the game.

The Loggers improve to 6-3 on the year.

Lincoln Land stays home to take on St. Louis Community College at 2 pm on Saturday in Cass Gymnasium.
