0. 0 tie when two LLCC defenders slipped and they were able to capitalize. Ten minutes later Matthew Ugalde (JC) hit a bomb from 30 yards out to out Jefferson ahead 2-0. LLCC played tough throughout the half, yet were not able to put a goal in the net. The first half ended with Jefferson ahead 2-0.
Second half saw the Logger's come out with intensity and determination. The Loggers were creating chances for the first 15 minutes of the half. At the 15 minute mark a Logger's defender took down a Jefferson player in the box resulting in a penalty kick and a 3-0 deficit. Coach Dunas said, "The third goal seemed to be what broke our backs. You could see the boys heads go down when the third goal was conceived. Up to that point we were still in the match."
The Loggers continued to fight but it just wasn't enough today as Jefferson scored their 4th goal of the match with 20 minutes left in the half when Chevaughn Walsh was able to find the back of the Logger's net. Fifteen minutes later Jefferson County scored their 5th and final goal of the game when Matthew Ugalde scored his second goal of the match.
Coach Dunas reflected on being shut out by Jefferson County, "The score was not indicative of the difference of ability in the teams; however, they definitely deserved to win the match today. We were simply outplayed. We took this one on the chin and we will regroup and continue to move forward." "Sometimes a team can learn more from a loss than they can a win. I have faith in the boys. Today was just not our day."
The 3-3 Loggers were out shot by Jefferson 16-8. The Logger's next match is at home against Region and MWAC opponent Heartland at 4pm Tuesday.
