Men's Soccer Lose in Last Minute, 2-3

"Close fought battles are building character," says Coach Dunas
The Men's Soccer team lost in the last minute of play against 5th ranked Illinois Central College 2-3. LLCC started the scoring 27 minutes into the first half when Marco Murillo slid a perfect ball to Adrian Manzano who was able to bury the ball into the back of the net. The remainder of the first half saw LLCC ands ICC with scoring chances however the half ended with LLCC up 1-0.

Four minutes into the second half ICC evened the score when Adama Keita got a breakaway down the right side of the field and put the ball in the back of the loggers net. Eight minutes later Keita got another breakaway beating numerous LLCC players down the right side before finishing his second goal of the game giving ICC a 2-1 lead.

Play remained even until 27 minutes in the second half when Marco Murillo connected with Adrian Manzano again who beat a couple ICC defenders before placing a gorgeous shot into the upper 90 of the ICC goal. The remainder of the match was a battle with both teams having scoring opportunities. The score remained a 2-2 draw until the 89th minute of the match when an LLCC error lead to ICC capitalizing on their third and winning goal of the match. ICC edged LLCC 3-2 for the final score. Dunas stated, "The boys played very well. It was a very even match that could have gone either way. Adrian had two beautiful goals. It's heartbreaking to lose the way we did in the final minute of the match. However we grew again as a team today. If we are healthy at the end we will be very competitive in the region tournament."  

The loggers next Match is on the road Wednesday against Heartland Community College.
