The Loggers defeated Larimie County 4-3 in OT at the Kick Out Tournament in Champaign, Illinois. The Loggers took the pitch today against a very strong Laramie county team and battled for 105 minutes to secure the win in the second overtime of the match. LLCC started the scoring off when 2013 freshman player of year, Harry White headed the ball into the back of the net off of a deflection from his own shot. The loggers maintained the majority of possession through the 32nd minute of the first half when Texas freshman keeper, Memo Guerrero punted the ball to fellow Texan Adrian Manzano who collected the ball and put it in the side netting for the second logger goal of the match. First half play ended with the Loggers on top 2-0.
LLCC came out a little flat in the second period. With 14 minutes into the second half Laramie County scored there frist goal. The Loggers put the lead back to 2 when Harry White finished on a Bewar Mohammad pass (3-1). LLCC held the lead until the 76th minute when Laramie County broke through for their second goal of the match (3-2). Coach Shawn Dunas stated, "When Larime scored their 2nd goal we went flat and went into a defensive shell." Laramie county took it to the loggers for the last 14 minutes of the match creating numerous chances. Then with 42 seconds left in the match Laramie County was able to tie the contest at 3-3. Regular time ended with the score tied at 3-3.
After regulation both teams played two 10 minute golden goal over times. Victory came to the Loggers with half way in the overtime play as Harry White headed a bewar Mohammad corner kick to Jake Stults feet for the score and win. Dunas stated, "I was impressed with how the boys were able to pull it together in overtime and get the win. It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win...we deserved to get the result. I'm proud of my boys."
The loggers resume play Wednesday when they host ICC at 4 PM.
