LLCC hosted Spoon River today on the best day of the spring thus far. The Loggers took both games winning the first game 10-3 and a comeback win, 5-4 in the 8
th inning.
The Loggers got their first batter on base the hard way as leadoff hitter Tyler Borski was hit by a pitch. Sam Goode reached first on fielding error and Michael Reavy singled to the right side driving in Borski (RBI).
Will Schneider led off the 5
th inning with a single up the middle. Sam Goode and Colby Griggs both reached base on fielder choices and throwing errors. Michael Reavy (5-for-5, 2 RBI) singled to center field driving in Griggs. Bryce Wright had a bunt base hit and Drew Levitt (4-for-5) doubled to left-center (RBI). With Levitt on 3
rd, Austin Muench flew out to center (RBI) driving in Levitt. Neal Aherin (3-for-6) doubled to center and Borski ended the inning with a pop up to 3
rd.
The Loggers scored 1 run in the 6
th inning on two hits by Griggs and Reavy. LLCC scored 3 runs in the 8
th inning as Reavy doubled to right field. Wright singled to right and Reavy advanced to 3
rd and scored on a throwing error. Levitt singled to center followed by a walk to Muench. Aherin singled to the right side of the infield (RBI) as Wright scored. Borski grounded out (RBI) to score Levitt.
Reed Willenborg went 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 5. Connor Creasey finished the last two innings allowing 1 unearned run.
Trailing game two 4-1, LLCC scored 3 runs in the 7
th inning to tie the game. Spoon River failed to score in the top of the 8
th and LLCC scored a walk off run in the 8
th to win. Austin Muench led off the 7
th with a single to left and advanced to 2
nd on a wild pitch. Muench moved to 3
rd on a ground out. Will Schneider reached 1
st on fielding error (RBI) as Muench scored. Sam Goode (2-for-3, 2 RBIs) doubled to left center driving in two Loggers.
With the game knotted up 4-4, Bryce Wright (2-for-4) led off the 8
th inning with hit to the left side. Drew Levitt reached 1
st on fielding error (SAC bunt). Muench (2-for-3) reached safely on a sacrifice bunt. Bases loaded and no outs, Neal Aherin (2-for-5) singled up the middle with a walk off base hit for the win.
Blake Welch (W, 3-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Michael Ringer. Ringer went 6.2 innings allowing 4 runs on 4 hits.
