Lincoln Land traveled to Ogelsby, Illinois to take on Illinois Valley Community College and are coming home with a huge come from behind win 57-55.
 
Lincoln Land played sluggish for most of the evening, but turned it on late. The first half was a disaster for the Loggers who shot 20% from the field and were 2/11 (18%) from behind the arc. In the first half the Loggers were out rebounded 24-11 with 10 of those offensive rebounds for the Eagles of Illinois Valley. At half the Loggers trailed 32-15.
 
Illinois Valley was able to push out the lead as high as 19. Lincoln Land was able to keep the game within reach, but with 3:16 left Lincoln Land still trailed by 11. Lincoln Land turned up the pressure which rattled the Eagles. Lincoln Land was able to get steals and turned those steals in to free throw opportunities. The Loggers trailed 55-51 when freshman Justin Thomas missed a free throw, but in the scramble for the ball Thomas came away with the rebound and after a few passes Michael Cameron knocked down his only three of the game to cut the deficit to one. On the inbounds Cameron stole the ball for his fifth steal of the game and got fouled to go to the line with :29 left. Cameron made both free throws to put Lincoln Land up 1. The Eagles got off a three as time wound down, but the try went wide and sophomore Jake Staumbach secured the rebound for the victory. Jake then knocked in one free throw and intentionally missed his second to allow the horn the go off. The Loggers outscored IVCC 16-3 during the last 3:16 of the game.
 
When you look at most stats, Lincoln Land played a horrible game. They shot 31% for the game and 18% from three and were out rebounded 42-25. The two stats that won Lincoln Land the game were that they forced 25 turnovers while only committing 11 and shot 28 free throws, converting on 22 (79%).
 
Freshman Eddie Longmeyer led the way for the Loggers with 14 points, 9 of which came from free throws. Fellow freshman Justin Thomas pulled down a team high 6 rebounds. Sophomore Michael Cameron  had 5 big steals that were key to the victory. Torrance Johnson of IVCC led all scorers with 16 points.
 
Coach Chad Jones following the win said, "For all extensive purposes this was a horrible game for us as a team. BUT, when the game was on the line we made the plays we had to make and that is what winning teams do. We have some simple things to fix, but if we play with that fire the whole game we will be a great team."
 
Lincoln Land improves to 6-3 on the year and will look to continue their winning ways at home on Saturday against St Louis Community College which will meaningful game for the five St Louis area players in the Lincoln Land program.
