The Lincoln Land Lady Loggers got their first win of the new season by defeating Moraine Valley 60-49., The Loggers took a first half lead of 31-23 and fought off a run by MVCC to secure the victory., The well fought game changed leads seven times as the determined Loggers held on and pushed the lead to eleven points at the end.
Lincoln Land won the battle of the boards 51-41 which was a goal the team had today. "We stressed the importance of rebounding today and the girls really did a nice job of that," stated Coach Gary Albert. "We also did a great job of keeping our composure when Moraine made the early run in the second half."
The Loggers finished the game on 20/65 shooting for 30.8%. LLCC was 4/10 from beyond the arc and committed 24 turnovers.
LLCC had four players in double figures today, as Haley Lockhart led the Loggers with 16 points while Molly Sloman, Bre Lewis and Hannah Hergenrother added 12, 11 and 10 points respectively. Lockhart also pulled down a team high 13 rebounds.,
Lincoln is now 1-1 on the season.
