Ten minutes left in the half Adrian Manzano, had a breakaway which he fell just shy of putting in the net. Minutes later Dawson Ford played a beautiful ball on a cross which hit a Parkland player in the hand resulting in a penalty kick for LLCC. Naba Alzhyri who had a four game goal streak coming in to the game was denied on the penalty. Five minutes left in the half Parkland headed a ball from a cross which hit off the post and they followed up effortlessly and placed the ball over a diving Jake Oldani for a 1-0 lead. The Loggers took a 1-0 deficit into halftime.
Coach Shawn Dunas stated, " Soccer is a game of momentum. Either of the goal attempts by Manzano or Alzhyri could have been a game changer...when they scored, they stole the momentum right away from us."

Second half play saw Parkland silence the Loggers with 4 unanswered goals. Parkland scored in the 7th minute to increase the lead to 2-0 on a great cross. Keeper Jake Oldani was injured a short time later and replaced with field player Blake Smith. Six minutes later, Parkland slid their third goal past replacement keeper Blake Smith. The Cobras struck with a venomous bite scoring two more goals in less than ten minutes.
LLCC was shut out, losing 5-0. Coach Dunas stated, "We didn't really show up for the second half. We let them take it to us the majority of the half and didn't really create many chances on the Parkland end. We had trouble communicating and marking for the entirety of the half. We are going to have to take this one on the chin and regroup to face this same team in a week and a half. I am looking forward to a different result."
The Loggers finish up regular season play next Wednesday, October 22nd against Robert Morris College at pm., LLCC will have another shot at Parkland as they open Region XXIV on October 25th in Champaign.
