Lincoln Land continued conference play at home against the Lincoln College Lynx. Lincoln Land has played strong in the first half all year, and the Loggers continued that trend tonight. Lincoln Land was able to take an 8 point lead in to half. The Loggers made 50% of their shots from the field in that half.
"First halves we have come out strong and played well." Head Coach Jones commented, "We have not been able to hold those leads down the stretch." Lincoln outscored the Loggers 37-21 in the second half and the Lynx used some sharp shooting from behind the arc down the stretch to distance themselves. With 6:00 to go the game was tied at 48 and from that point on the Loggers were unable to keep stride.
Lincoln Land hit on only 33% of their shots in the second half and that was what brought on their eventual fate. "They hit big shots down the stretch and we didn't. We have struggled at the end of the game which lets our mistakes compound. We need to get better at that or we are not going to win," reflected Coach Jones.
Lincoln Land had balanced scoring with sophomore Marcus Graham leading the way with 14. Freshman Kendall Davis and Michael Cameron added 11 and 10 respectively. Graham also pulled down a team high 8 rebounds.
Aaron Simpson of the Lynx led all scorers with 23.
Lincoln Land falls to 9-11 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. They will get another opportunity next Wednesday on the road in Quincy against John Wood Community College.
