18
th ranked LLCC took on a very good opponent in East Central College. The formidable team from St. Louis came to LLCC after losing to 13
th ranked Parkland and 14
th ranked Jefferson College last week. "We had to make a statement tonight, and that is just what my guys did with a decisive 4-1 victory over East Central," stated Coach Dunas.
Rafael Rangel scored the only first half goal off of a pass from Connor Carnduff. The close fought first half ended 1-0 in favor of LLCC. Tajay Small contributed by leading his team with his 7
th and 8
th goals of the season. Captain Connor Carnduff also contributed with a couple of key assists.
Coach Dunas challenged his players to score within the first 10 minutes of the second half, and that is exactly what they did. Seven minutes in the half, Connor Carnduff got his second assist of the game on a perfectly placed cross to Darwin Soto who scored his only goal of the night. East Central then answered by scoring their only goal of the game.
Tajay Small countered with two breakaway goals on assists from Darwin Soto and Harry White. "As a whole, we played much better in the second half of the match today" remarked Coach Dunas. "Our defense was sound...and the efforts of Ubaldo Olvera (7 saves) kept the Loggers on top tonight."
The 6-0 Loggers will go on the road tomorrow in a Region 24 game against Danville Area Community College. The Loggers will then head to Missouri to face 14
th ranked Jefferson College.
