Despite a 54-dig performance by libero Emily Orrick and 13 kills and 3 blocks by Michaleen Forman, the LLCC volleyball squad was relegated to the consolation bracket of the national tournament after a 24-26, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15 loss.
LLCC had its chances to put KCKCC away in game three, squandering a five point lead as well as a defensive lapse at 23-23 which gave KCKCC the initiative.
Coach Dietz remarked,"We played hard most of the match--just a few too many mental errors. We were tipping and hitting the ball to places we'd practiced avoiding as they were easy for the KCK defense, and if you give easy balls to a college team, they'll make you pay. KCK's strength is their hitting so that cost us just enough to lose the match."
