The #3 seed LLCC soccer team advances to region 24 championship game with a 2-1 win over #2 seed Lewis & Clark. The Loggers scored first, just twenty minutes into the first half off a Connor Carnduff cross pass to Darwin Soto for the goal. The Trailblazers answered with a goal on a throw in pass with twelve minutes left in the first half to tie the score at 1-1. The Loggers scored what was the winning goal with twenty five minutes left in the game on another cross pass from Mitchell Schrage to Darwin Soto for the goal. Ublado Olvera came up with 9 big saves to hold the Trailblazers to one goal.
“We avenged a 4-1 loss two weeks ago against Lewis & Clark”, stated coach Mabie. “The guys fought hard the entire game and it was a total team effort.”
The Loggers will face the #1 seed, Illinois Central College in the championship game this Saturday at noon. The game will be played at Dunlap High School in Dunlap, Illinois. ICC defeated Lincoln College 3-2. The winner will advance to the National Tournament in Albany, Georgia at Darton State College on November 12
th.
