Loggers Split on Final Day of Regular Season

Loggers Fall To Spoon River College (SRC) Despite Strong Effort From Swaney

May 2, 2026 vs. SRC

Swaney collected three hits in three at bats, but Loggers lost to SRC 21-8 on Saturday. Swaney hit a home run to center field in the second inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning.

The Loggers collected 10 hits and SRC had 17 in the high-scoring affair. The Loggers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Swaney singled, scoring one run, Geis homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Barnes hit a solo home run to left field.

Loggers added three more runs in the top of the second inning on three hits. Swaney homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Brown was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. SRC flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take the lead, 10-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Josh Arnett that drove in two.

SRC scored 11 runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Eli Carlson singled, scoring one run, Colson Welgat doubled, scoring two runs, Tame induced Karson Quinn to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Josh Arnettsingled, scoring one run, Maddux Harksen singled, scoring one run, Eli Carlson singled, scoring one run, and Colson Welgat hit a grand slam to left field.
Masyn Burke earned the win for SRC. The reliever allowed three hits and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking four. Stellano took the loss for the Loggers. The right-handed pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking two. Mason Burke began the game for SRC. The pitcher gave up seven hits and seven runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.

The Loggers accumulated 10 hits in the game. Geis and Swaney each collected three hits for the Loggers. Geis and Swaney each drove in three runs for Loggers. Turner collected two hits for The Loggers in three at bats.
SRC collected 17 hits in the game. Colson Welgat went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with seven runs batted in. Maddux Harksen, Eli Carlson, Keaton Davis, Karson Quinn, Paxton Thomsen, and Josh Arnett each collected multiple hits for SRC. SRC had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game. Paxton Thomsen and Kellen Hook led the team with two walks each. SRC turned one double play in the game. SRC didn't commit a single error in the field. Garrett Woodward had the most chances in the field with five.
 

Loggers Breeze Past SRC

The Loggers easily dispatched SRC on Saturday, 8-0.

The Loggers were the first to get on the board in the second when Herman hit a solo home run to left field. Two more Loggers runs crossed the plate in the third inning to extend the lead to 3-0. Barnes hit a solo home run to left field, and Brown doubled, scoring one run.

Cooper earned the win for the Loggers. The hurler surrendered three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking three. Chase Kelley took the loss for SRC. The pitcher went four innings, surrendering three runs on six hits, striking out three and walking one.

Geis provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Loggers with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Shultz and Barnes each collected two hits for the Loggers. Swaney paced Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. The Loggers turned one double play in the game.
Maddux Harksen, Langdon Lambert, and Josh Arnett each collected one hit for SRC. SRC turned one double play in the game.
