Swaney's Big Day Propels Loggers 2026 Past Illinois Wesleyan JV

March 30, 2026 vs. Illinois Wesleyan JV

Swaney drove in five runs on four hits to lead the Loggers past Illinois Wesleyan11-1 on Monday. Swaney hit a home run to left field in the third scoring two, doubled in the third scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one.

The Loggers won thanks in part to nine runs in the third inning.  Swaney homered to left field, scoring two runs, Cox hit a solo home run to left field, Geis singled, scoring one run, Saxe singled, scoring two runs, Swaney doubled, scoring two runs, and Bowles grounded out, scoring one run. The Loggers opened the scoring in the first after Swaney singled, scoring one run.

Bashton homered to center field, which helped Illinois Wesleyan tie the game at one in the top of the second.

Wheeler earned the win for the Loggers. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Johnson took the loss for Illinois Wesleyan JV. The starting pitcher went one inning, surrendering one run on two hits, striking out none and walking one. Goss started on the bump for Loggers. The hurler allowed one hit and one run over two innings, striking out three and walking one. Charpentier and Winkeler each came on in relief for Loggers 2026 and shutdown Illinois Wesleyan JV.

Loggers accumulated 13 hits in the game. Saxe, Bowles, Geis, and Cox each collected multiple hits for Loggers 2026. Loggers 2026 didn't commit a single error in the field. Lennington had the most chances in the field with eight.

Bashton went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Illinois Wesleyan turned one double play in the game.
Loggers  play at home on Tuesday against Quincy University JV in their next game.
