The Lincoln Land Logger men's basketball team returned home for the first time in four games, but fell to the Jaguars of Danville Area Community College, 76-64.
In the first frame the Loggers struggled to find any stride, shooting just 23% from the field and missing all of their 6 three pointers. The Loggers failed to lead in the first half and after trailing 14-11 gave up a 10-1 run to find themselves down a game high of 12 points. Lincoln Land made no real imprint on their deficit, getting within 6 once, but ultimately went in to the half trailing by 9 at 31-22.
The second half was where the Loggers got into the game, took the lead, and ultimately lost it. After a few buckets in the opening minutes by both teams, Lincoln Land put together a 7-0 run to get within 5 points. Just minutes later, trailing by 5 the Loggers got 6 straight points to take their first lead of the game at 46-45 after two free throws from Nate Moore. DACC took the lead right back on the next possession before Lincoln Land responded with back-to-back three from Gus McCrary and Jalen Ashley. The Loggers led by as many as 7 at 58-51 with just 6:00 to play. Danville had just 12 possessions the rest of the game, but they made the best of it scoring on every single one of them. A three-pointer capped a 10-2 run and gave Danville the lead back at 61-60. Lincoln Land initially hung with the Jaguars, not letting the game get away. The Loggers found themselves in a one possession game trialing by 3 with just over 2:00 to play after a Keshaun Harlan shot. Unfortunately, those would be the last points LLCC would get as Danville went 5/6 on free throws and added two other scores to run away with the last 9 points of the afternoon and winning 76-64.
Only two Loggers got to double digits, Harlan who ended with a team high 17. Harlan also stuffed the stat sheet with 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Moore came off the bench to add 14 points.
Lincoln Land falls to 8-10 on the season and 4-6 in conference. They remain at home next to take on Lewis and Clark on Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM for Homecoming and Timber Takeover.
