Loggers Win in a Midweek Against the Big Blue

Seth Winkler's Clutch Hitting Propels Loggers To Victory Over Millikin University

Seth Winkler drove in five runs on three hits to lead the Loggers past Millikin University 14-4 on Wednesday. Winkler hit a home run to center field in the sixth scoring three, singled in the first scoring one, and singled in the fourth scoring one.

Millikin University got on the board in the first inning after Nolan Reiman singled, scoring one run. The Loggers took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Winkler singled down the left field line, Ethan Hurst singled to right field, Colbie Glenn hit a sacrifice fly, and Millikin University committed an error, each scoring one run.

The Loggers added one run in the third. Hurst singled to center field on an 0-2 count, making the score 5-3. Winkler homered to center field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Loggers.

The Loggers scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jack Ford drew a walk, scoring one run, Glenn singled, scoring one run, Braylan Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, and Brooks Neuhoff hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.

Will Leman earned the win for the Loggers. The starter allowed seven hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking two. Brody Stonecripher took the loss for Millikin University. The starting pitcher went one inning, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits, striking out none and walking none. Luke Goss tossed one inning of no-run ball for Loggers in relief. The righty gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

The Loggers piled up 11 hits in the game. Andrew Hendrickson, Hurst, and Nolan Turner each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Ford paced the Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game.

Millikin University piled up 10 hits in the game. Kyle Campbell, Trey Thompson, and Ty Cribbett each collected two hits for Millikin University. Thompson went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Millikin University turned one double play in the game.

Loggers play at home on Saturday against St. Louis Community College in their next game.
