Loggers Drop Two at Mineral Area

Game 1 - Strong Hitting Not Enough As Lincoln Land Loggers Falls To Mineral Area CC

Lincoln Land Loggers fell 10-8 to Mineral Area CC on Tuesday despite out-hitting them 13 to 12. Allie Dolenc, Sam Gleckler, Brooke Goetter, and Shelby Finchum each collected two hits for Lincoln Land Loggers. Lincoln Land fell despite leading 5-0 in the second.

Lincoln Land Loggers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Dolenc singled to left field, and Maddie Adams grounded out, each scoring one run.

Lincoln Land Loggers added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Goetter doubled to center field, Finchum singled to center field, and Dolenc singled , each scoring one run.

Mineral Area CC flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take the lead, 8-5. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to left field by Emily Hochstatter that drove in four.

Lincoln Land Loggers tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a ground out by Abby Hendricks, a single by Gleckler, and a double by Finchum.

Mineral Area CC took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Hochstatter doubled, scoring one run, to give Mineral Area CC the lead, 9-8.

Mineral Area CC scored one run in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Sophie Meyer.

Leanna Mitts earned the win for Mineral Area CC. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out one and walking none. Reagan Jonas pitched four and two-thirds innings in relief for Lincoln Land Loggers. The reliever surrendered five hits and two runs while, striking out two and walking one. Adams took the loss for Lincoln Land Loggers. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking three. Sarah Hoshaw stepped in the circle first for Mineral Area CC. The pitcher surrendered 12 hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out none and walking one.

Lincoln Land Loggers amassed 13 hits in the game. Dolenc and Finchum were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Lincoln Land Loggers. Lincoln Land Loggers stole three bases in the game.

Mineral Area CC collected 12 hits in the game. A'kiayah Scales and Hochstatter each collected three hits for Mineral Area CC. Hochstatter went 3-for-4 at the plate and led the team with five runs batted in. Meyer hit two home runs in the game. The shortstop went 2-4 with two runs scored and four runs batted in. Mineral Area CC had patience at the plate, collecting four walks for the game. Mineral Area CC were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Ava Spalding had the most chances in the field with six.

Game 2 - Lincoln Land Loggers Keep It Close Against Mineral Area CC, Lose On Walkoff

A walk-off left Lincoln Land Loggers on the wrong end of a 5-4 defeat to Mineral Area CC on Tuesday at TBD. Mineral Area CC were down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Emily Hochstatter homered to center field, scoring two runs. Lincoln Land Loggers lost despite out-hitting Mineral Area CC eight to seven. Allie Dolenc and Maddie Adams each collected two hits for Lincoln Land Loggers.

Lincoln Land Loggers opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Lincoln Land Loggers first got on the board when Abby Mcdonald singled, scoring one run. Lincoln Land Loggers added one run in the second after Dolenc singled to left field.

Gracie Wright tripled down the right field line, which helped Mineral Area CC tie the game at three in the bottom of the fifth. Lincoln Land Loggers took the lead in the top of the sixth. Ryleigh Davidson singled, scoring one run, to give Lincoln Land Loggers the lead, 4-3.

Emma Mulholland earned the win for Mineral Area CC. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking none. Faith Nestler took the loss for Lincoln Land Loggers. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out 12 and walking two. Libby Mesch started in the circle for Mineral Area CC. The pitcher gave up six hits and three runs (one earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three.

Dolenc, Adams, and Mcdonald each drove in one run for Lincoln Land Loggers. Lincoln Land Loggers had a strong eye at the plate, amassing five walks for the game. Abby Jackson and Brooke Boden led the team with two free passes each.

Wright and Hochstatter were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Mineral Area CC. Rakiara Bogan stole three bases. Mineral Area CC stole four bases in the game.

Next up for Lincoln Land Loggers is a game against Three Rivers College on Thursday.
