Loggers Win Against #14 Iowa Central

There were runs aplenty on Sunday, as Loggers outsted Iowa Central Community College 13-8. The Loggers collected seven hits, while Iowa Central Community College had 11. Iowa Central Community College were the first to get on the board in the second when Jake Busson homered to right field, scoring two runs.

Seth Winkler homered to center field, which helped the Loggers tie the game at two in the top of the third. The Loggers took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Colbie Glenn singled to center field, Trevor Geis walked, and Iowa Central Community College committed an error, each scoring one run. Iowa Central Community College tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a double by Cooper Nicholson, and a play.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Loggers went back into the lead after Payten Mugele doubled down the right field line, and the Loggers scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run. Busson hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the ninth for the Iowa Central Community College.

Ryan Oswald earned the win for the Loggers. The reliever gave up zero hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Justin Benjamin took the loss for Iowa Central Community College. The reliever went three innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on one hit, striking out five and walking three. Seth Impson led things off on the bump for the Loggers. The pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three. AJ Rasmussen led things off on the bump for Iowa Central Community College. The hurler gave up four hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Bryce Buhs collected the save. Will Leman pitched one inning of scoreless ball for the Loggers in relief. The reliever allowed two hits, striking out three and walking none.

Mugele drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Loggers with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Mugele and Kaeden Bowles each collected two hits for the Loggers. Glenn led the Loggers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 15 walks for the game.

Iowa Central Community College collected 11 hits in the game. Busson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Iowa Central Community College with four runs batted in. The shortstop went 4-for-4 on the day. Nicholson collected two hits for Iowa Central Community College in five at bats. Cade Sears paced Iowa Central Community College with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game.

Next up for the Loggers is a game against Triton College on Friday.
