#16 Lincoln Land Splits Again with #8 Heartland

G1 - Heartland

The Loggers couldn't keep up with Heartland Community College and fell 12-2 on Monday. Heartland Community College got on the board in the top of the second inning after Tommy Atkinson singled, scoring one run, TJ Williams singled, scoring one run, and Corey Boyette homered to right field, scoring three runs.

Heartland Community College scored five runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. Boyette singled, scoring one run, Brady Davidson doubled, scoring one run, Aidan McNamee singled, scoring two runs, and Atkinson hit into a double play, but one run scored.

The Loggers made the score 10-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Caleb Royer hit a solo home run to center field, and Ethan Hurst doubled, scoring one run.

Jacob O'Day earned the win for Heartland Community College. They surrendered four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Zane Danielson took the loss for the Loggers. The left-handed pitcher went three innings, giving up eight runs on 10 hits, striking out four and walking two. Chase Jetel, Hunter Moser, Royer, and Hurst each collected one hit for the Loggers. Royer and Hurst each drove in one run for the Loggers. The Loggers turned one double play in the game.

Heartland Community College tallied 14 hits in the game. Boyette provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Heartland Community College with four runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Williams, Cale Steinbaugh, Jesse Contreras, and Beau Polickey each collected multiple hits for Heartland Community College. Heartland Community College turned one double play in the game. Heartland Community College were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. McNamee had the most chances in the field with five.

G2 - Heartland

It came down to the wire on Monday, as the Loggers grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 9-8, over Heartland Community College. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the ninth when Andrew Hendrickson singled, scoring one run. The Loggers collected 13 hits and Heartland Community College had nine in the high-scoring affair. Heartland Community College got on the board in the top of the first inning after Jesse Contreras singled, Cale Steinbaugh walked, Kaden Griffitts walked, and Max Hennemann grounded out, each scoring one run.

Andrew Randazzo singled on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which helped the Loggers tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, the Loggers broke up the tie when Ethan Hurst doubled, scoring one run. Then a double by Chase Jetel followed to extend the lead to 8-4. Heartland Community College tied the game up in the top of the ninth thanks to two doubles. Heartland Community College tied the game at eight on a double by Brady Davidson.

Hendrickson earned the win for the Loggers. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Patrick Gardner took the loss for Heartland Community College. The left-handed pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run on four hits, striking out two and walking three. Trey Carter began the game for the Loggers. The righty allowed two hits and four runs over three innings, striking out two and walking four. Luke Wright started on the bump for Heartland Community College. The left-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs over three and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three. Eli Curtis, Ryan Oswald, and Mark Wolak each threw shutout innings for the Loggers in relief.

The Loggers tallied 13 hits in the game. Jetel led the Loggers with four runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Nolan McMasters, Hunter Moser, Randazzo, Caleb Royer, and Hendrickson each collected two hits for the Loggers. Randazzo led the Loggers with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Randazzo stole four bases. The Loggers ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.

Heartland Community College piled up nine hits in the game. TJ Williams, Davidson, and Contreras each collected two hits for Heartland Community College. Contreras went 2-for-5 at the plate as the second baseman led the team with two runs batted in. Heartland Community College had a strong eye at the plate, tallying 10 walks for the game.

Hennemann, Davidson, and Steinbaugh led the team with two bases on balls each. Heartland Community College were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Steinbaugh made the most plays with eight.

The Loggers will travel to SWIC for their next game on Wednesday.
